Dearest grandchild,

Todays letter will focus on the fact that the major goal of Jesus was to please His Heavenly Father! How simple! How profound! Please consider:

• “He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.” (Matthew 26:39)
• “Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. Abba Father, he said, everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” (Mark 14:35-36)
• “Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.” (Luke 22:39-46)
• “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” (John 4:24)
• “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.” (John 5:30)
• “For I came down from heaven, not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.” (John 6:38)
• “The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.” (John 8:29)
• “For I did not speak on my own accord, but what the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father told me to say.” (John 12:49-50)
• “The world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.” (John 14:31)
• “If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have loved my Father’s commands and remain in his love.” (John 15:10)
• Etc.
• THE ORIGINAL SIN
• The original sin in heaven took place when Satan decided to disobey God and please himself: “How you have fallen from heaven morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.” (Isaiah 14:12-15)
• IT IS OBVIOUS THAT SATAN DID NOT LOVE GOD OR CARE WHAT GOD WANTED!
• The original sin on earth took place in the Garden of Eden.
• “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:15-17)
• What was “evil”? Adam didn’t know! Everything that God made was “very good” (Genesis 1:31). Adam only knew what was “good”. He had no idea what “evil” was!
• God loved Adam and wanted to protect him from “evil.” That’s why God forbade him to eat from the tree of the knowledge of “good and evil” (Genesis 2:16-17).
• Satan, as you know, “Is a liar and the father of lies”. (John 8:44)
• Satan therefore lied to Adam and convinced him to forget about pleasing God and to please himself. Someone defined sin as “I want, what I want, when I want it!” “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12)
• When God created the Garden there was no sorrow, pain, fear, or death! If Adam had only wanted to please God he could have remained in that garden forever! When Satan tricked him into pleasing himself he brought sin and death to all mankind!
• IF ONLY ADAM HAD PLEASED GOD THERE WOULD BE NO SIN IN THE WORLD!

YOU ALSO HAVE A HEAVENLY FATHER Please prayerfully consider these inspired words of Jesus: “If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own” (John 7:17) Most of us would prefer that it be the other way around! First we want someone to prove to us that the teaching of Jesus came from God, then we would try to please Him!

Jesus, however, was right! He knew what He was talking about! When you truly choose to do the will of God a miracle takes place and you become a “child of God”. Even thought you cannot see God, His presence in your life prouces “joy unspeakable and full of glory.” (1 Peter 1:8)

PLEASE BE LIKE JESUS WHO SAID: “The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”
