Dearest grandchild,

Today’s letter will deal with your health. When the Hebrew people came out of Egyptian bondage, Moses instructed them: “If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you” (Ex. 15:26) Please note the direct association between obeying the commands of God and health! Dr. S. I. McMillen and Dr. David E. Stern have written an entire book on this verse. It is called None of These Diseases and over a million copies have been sold! I hope you have the chance to read it some day.

On June 13, 2016 a demented man killed 49 people, and wounded 50 others, in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. It was the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Thousands of people packed blood donor centers eager to help replenish the blood supply. Jared Polis, a Democratic congressman who happens to be gay, tweeted: “There’s an urgent need for blood donors in Orlando. Gay men still can’t donate.” While pressure is mounting to change this, there is a medical reason why gay men cannot donate blood. Historically, gay men have been a source of contaminated blood!

In 2001 more than 14,000 people became infected with HIV through blood transfusions. Many of them were children. Experts estimate that the risk of being infected with HIV if you get a contaminated blood transfusion is 90 percent, and a single blood donation can go into the arms of three different people. Gay and bisexual men have a disproportionate burden of HIV infections. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that urban southern gay men have a 30% HIV infection rate. African-American men who have sex with men have a 50% lifetime risk of HIV.

The initial investigation of contaminated blood dates back to June 16, 1982. The CDC reported that three hemophiliacs were HIV positive and their infections were traced to transfusions. Wikipedia reveals that the FDA helped to keep this news out of the public eye. They state that in May 1985 the FDA’s regulator of blood products, Harry M. Meyer Jr., asked that the issue be "quietly solved without alerting the Congress, the medical community, and the public". They did what they could to hide it, but the public still found out. In 1997, Bayer and three other companies, agreed to pay $660 million to settle cases on behalf of more than 6,000 hemophiliacs infected with HIV in the United States in the early 1980s, paying an estimated $100,000 net to each infected hemophiliac.

Having sex with multiple partners is not healthy, and that’s one reason why God forbids it. The pressure to disobey God in this regard, however, is growing with each coming day. Drag queens read to and groom young children in public libraries. Public school teachers recruit students into the trans life style without their parent’s knowledge. Criticizing sexual perversion is now labeled as “hate speech”. A turning point in promoting perversion came in June 1969 following a police raid on a gay bar in Greenwich Village. The raid breathed new life into the movement and the following year organized demonstrations took place in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco in support of the gay lifestyle. As the years went on, additional cities in North America and Europe began to hold their own public demonstrations or “Pride Day”. This eventually led others to sponsor “Gay Pride Parade Marches”, “Celebrations” or “Festivals”. In the U.S. the acceptance by the public of homosexuality has increased from 49% in 2007 to 72% in 2019.

From the stand point of the Bible it is incredible to see “Gay” and “Pride” linked together and celebrated. While both are wrong, pride is perhaps the more deadly. Pride is more likely to produce

sexual disease than the other way around. There are seven things that the Lord hates and a proud look is at the top of the list (Prov. 6:16-19). As you know, it was because of pride that Satan was cast out of heaven (Ez. 28:14-17). It is bad enough to commit a sin, but it is utter blasphemy to be proud of it. Alexander Pope observed: “Vice is a monster of so frightful mien, that to be hated, needs but to be seen. But seen too often, familiar with her face, we at first abhor, then pity, then embrace”.

How vividly I recall praying for a young man in the ICU of Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He had pneumonia, but since he was only 21 years old I naively assumed that modern medicine would quickly have him back on his feet. When he died a couple of days later I found out that he had AIDS. It was a self imposed death sentence! The Bible warns that when men commit indecent acts with other men they receive in themselves the due penalty of their perversion (Rom. 1:27). I still have sadness for him, his family, and for all others with addictive and destructive lifestyles!

When Granny and I got married we had to have a blood test before we could get a marriage license. In this way both partners could be sure they would not contract an STD from the marriage union. There is a measure of protection to your health when husbands and wives honor their wedding vows. There are more than 30 different bacteria, viruses, and parasites that are transmitted by sexual contact. Out of these many STD’S there are four that are considered incurable! Obviously, if you obey God “none of these diseases” will be a problem!

On Jan. 5, 2020 a number of former homosexuals and transgendered individuals gathered outside of the U.S. Capital to say that sexual identity can be changed and their changed lives prove it! April Lockhart is now a happy woman who no longer suffers from same sex attraction, alcoholism, depression, or anxiety. Luis Ruiz, who is HIV positive, discovered that he was not only loved by Jesus, but also by his church. Kevin Witt was a sex worker who had been with 5,000 partners. He now says, “Change is possible for if God can change me, he can change anybody”. Angel Colon survived the Pulse Nightclub shooting even though she was shot 6 times. She wants everyone to know that she is living proof that God can transform lives. Kathygrace Duncan took hormone treatment to change her sex at the age of 18. When she gave her heart to Christ it took 5 years for her system to return to normal but her last 26 years have been happy ones. Elizabeth Woning left the LGBTQ community and has been happily married for 18 years. Edward Byrd credits God for saving him from drinking and partying from Sunday to Sunday to fulfillment and enjoying the best life he has ever known. Christopher Sims went to church and found a loving God that his parents never told him about. There are literally thousands of other testimonies like this! “For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him (Jn. 3:17).

Jesus can not only save you from sexual problems but from every other problem as well. His loving invitation knows no bounds! Jesus promised: “Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-30).
