Dearest grandchild,

Today’s letter will deal with intelligence and information. Intelligence exists, but does not have mass or substance. Wikipedia states: "HDDs record data by magnetizing ferromagnetic material directionally. . . changing values on the hard drive is really just a re-orientation of material that is already there, no matter is added or removed, therefore the mass of the hard drive remains constant.” Thus, adding information on your hard drive does not increase it’s weight, and removing information does not diminish it’s weight.

The late missionary to Asia, Robert Morse, was a personal friend of our family. This brilliant linguist could speak 18 languages. His body weighed the same the moment before he died as it did the moment after he died. Intelligence is real but does not have mass or substance.

So which came first, mind, or matter? The theist believes that mind produced matter, the atheist believes that matter produced mind. Both cannot be right! Further, if your mind came into being by accident, can you trust it? Words are produced by intelligence, not the other way around. When you see or hear a word you know that it did not come by accident. The Bible states: “In the beginning was the Word” (Jn. 1:1). The Word produced matter, not the other way around. Matter is subject to decay and is therefore not eternal. Since intelligence is not physical it is not subject to decay!

Antony Flew (Feb. 11, 1923 - Apr. 8, 2010) was once the most famous atheist in the world. In 2004, however, he came to believe in God. This, he explained, was due to his life long commitment to go wherever the evidence leads. In 2007 he published the book “There is a God - How the world’s most famous atheist changed his mind”.

If you went outside and found the word “love” written in the dirt you would logically conclude that this four letter word did not get there by accident. The longest word in the world is in our DNA code. It is over 3 billions letters long. Flew concluded that it is not reasonable to “believe” that our DNA was spelled out by accident. He reasoned that "Super-intelligence is the only good explanation for the origin of life and the complexity of nature."

Our DNA is made up of four chemicals which can be abbreviated as letters A, T, G, and C. These letters are arranged in the human cell like this: CGTGTGACTCGCTCCTGAT Etc. The order in which they are arranged instructs the cell's actions. This “word” that is 3 billion letters long is in every cell of your body. If you audibly read this code at the rate of 3 letters per second it would take 31 years, day and night, to read it all. How would you like to remember that word on a spelling test?

Further, science has discovered that 99.9% of your DNA is similar to everyone's genetic

makeup. The uniqueness of your DNA therefore comes from only a tiny fraction of that one percent. Yet, as you know, your unique DNA is so accurate that it can distinguish you from every other person who has ever lived. The U.S. government is able to identify everyone in our country by the arrangement of a nine-digit social security number. Yet, inside every cell of your body is a three-billion-lettered DNA code that belongs only to you. As we have said, this code not only identifies you, but also continually instructs your cells' behavior.

David said it like this: “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
