Dearest grandchild,

Today’s letter will deal with “the truth”. Unfortunately we live at a time when the truth is so malleable that each person can have his or her own “truth”. Society persists in this madness even if your “truth” contradicts mine. There is such a thing as “truth” and I pray that you will not settle for less than the “truth”. When Jesus was on trial Pilate asked Him if He was a king. “Jesus answered, ‘you are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me’”. I believe Jesus was right! Please take time to ponder His words.

In 2013 Stephen C. Meyer wrote a 512 page book titled “Darwin’s Doubt”. It was a follow- up to his 2009 book “Signature in the Cell”. The fanatical devotion of Americans to evolution is expressed by the quip: “In China you can criticize Darwin, but not the government. In America you can criticize the government but not Darwin.” It is refreshing to realize that even Darwin himself wasn’t certain that evolution was true. The following quote by Darwin was written to William Graham on July 3, 1881. “But then with me the horrid doubt always arises whether the convictions of man's mind, which has been developed from the mind of the lower animals, are of any value or at all trustworthy. Would any one trust in the convictions of a monkey's mind, if there are any convictions in such a mind?”

“The survival of the fittest”, as you know, is foundational to Darwin’s theory. In this “theory” the driving force is “survival”, not “truth”. With Jesus, however, “truth” was paramount. He did not come into the world to “survive”, He came into the world to bear witness of the “truth”. In this regard “truth” provides a clear line of demarcation. Everyone on the side of “truth” listens to Jesus.

The Jews who crucified Jesus rejected “truth” for “expediency”. They correctly saw Jesus as a threat to their way of doing things. They concluded, therefore: “That it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not”. (Jn. 11:50). Considering their “survival” as more important than “truth” they “Sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death” (Matt. 26:59). Nor should we be surprised that Jesus correctly identified their true loyalty and said: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” (Jn. 8:44).

Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli was born May 3, 1469 and died June 21, 1527. He has been called the “father of modern political science”. In his book “The Prince” he considers that dishonesty and killing innocents is normal and effective in politics. Consequently “Machiavellianism” is used today as a derogatory term to describe someone who is without morals and unscrupulous. Machiavelli did not love the truth! Do you?

A more modern proponent of duplicity is the late Saul Alinisky (Jan. 30, 1909 - June 27, 1972). His book “Rules for Radicals” is said to be the Bible for community organizers. Alinisky put these words prominently in the front of this book: “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.” Remember! Lucifer, Alinisky’s hero, is the father of lies!

It is important to remember that Alinisky himself was a hero to Hillary Clinton. She even wrote her senior thesis about him. Even more disturbing is Pres. Obama’s loyalty to him. In fact, Rep. Steve King called out Obama for using taxpayer dollars to translate “Rules for Radicals” into Macedonian. They were printed and delivered “en masse” to influence the elections in Macedonia.

Please love the truth for God has promised to send “strong delusion” to those who don’t! (2 Thess. 2:11, 12)
